23 Feb
Summary
- Double murder accused Mahesh Bhagwat was killed by five men.
- The murder occurred on Friday, 65 km from Pune.
- The killing is believed to be revenge for a 2021 double murder.

Mahesh Bhagwat, identified as the primary suspect in a 2021 double homicide, was fatally attacked by a group of five men on Friday evening. The violent incident occurred near Patas, approximately 65 kilometers from Pune. This event is understood to be a direct consequence of Bhagwat's involvement in a previous double murder case from July 2021.
Bhagwat and three associates were responsible for the bludgeoning deaths of Shivam Shitkal and Ganesh Makar, both 23 years old. This earlier crime stemmed from an ongoing dispute. The recent attack saw the assailants use a pick-up truck to disable Bhagwat's motorcycle before assaulting him with sharp weapons.
The Pune Rural police have apprehended three individuals in connection with Bhagwat's murder, including Santosh Shitkal and Anand Makar, who are reportedly relatives of the victims from the 2021 case. Authorities are actively pursuing the remaining two suspects involved in the attack.
