A DoorDash driver, Kourtney Stevenson, faces felony battery and consumer product tampering charges in Indiana after allegedly spraying pepper spray on a customer's food. The incident occurred shortly after midnight, when the customer and his wife ordered food through the platform. They later experienced severe symptoms, including vomiting and burning, after consuming their meal.
Doorbell camera footage captured Stevenson spraying a substance from an aerosol can towards the food before leaving the porch. When questioned by investigators, Stevenson stated she was trying to kill a spider. However, authorities dismissed this explanation due to the low temperature at the time, suggesting spiders would not be active outdoors.
Stevenson's access to the DoorDash platform has been permanently revoked, and the company is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. She was arrested in Kentucky and is awaiting extradition to Indiana to face charges, underscoring the seriousness with which authorities are treating the alleged violation of public trust.
