Summary
- Vape seizures in Doncaster more than doubled in the past year.
- 19,783 illegal devices were seized in 2025-26.
- Council vows to act against businesses risking resident safety.

The City of Doncaster Council reported a significant surge in illegal vape seizures, with confiscations more than doubling in the year following the national ban on single-use devices. Official figures reveal that 19,783 illicit vapes were seized in the 2025-26 period, marking a 103% increase compared to the 9,737 devices seized in 2024-25.
Deputy Mayor Glyn Jones emphasized the council's firm stance against businesses that compromise resident safety, stating a commitment to removing all illicit devices. The ban, effective from June, aims to protect children and young people as part of the broader Tobacco and Vapes Bill.
Despite ongoing efforts to educate businesses on compliance, a small number of vendors continue to disregard the regulations. In response, Doncaster has established a dedicated tobacco and alcohol enforcement team, bolstered by public health funding and participation in national operation Operation Joseph.
These measures aim to enhance the focused effort on safeguarding residents from dangerous counterfeit products. The council continues to urge the public to report any sales of single-use vapes to Trading Standards teams.
