A dog sitter, Suraj Pawar, has been apprehended for orchestrating a burglary at his former employer's Andheri residence, targeting valuables estimated at Rs 50.2 lakh. The incident occurred while the employer's family was in Jaipur for wedding arrangements. Pawar, who had worked for businessman J C Rodrigues for seven months, was reportedly fired recently.
Authorities arrested the hired burglar, Surya Gounder, after a pursuit through Versova. Gounder, with a criminal record of eight house thefts, had been released from jail just 15 days prior to the crime. The investigation also led to the arrest of Pawar's brother, Jaswant, and an associate of Gounder.
Police have successfully recovered valuables totaling Rs 31 lakh. Pawar confessed to committing the crime to fund his extravagant lifestyle and manage motorcycle loan payments. The suspects are currently in police custody.
