A mother was left with horrific injuries after being mauled by three Staffordshire Bull Terriers while clutching her newborn baby. The attack, which occurred recently in Cardiff, saw the mother dragged to the ground and bitten repeatedly, describing the pain as the worst she has ever experienced. Her six-day-old infant also suffered minor bites and scratches to its head during the terrifying ordeal.
The victim required multiple surgical procedures, including skin grafts, to treat the extensive wounds to her feet and wrist. A friend who intervened to help also sustained severe injuries to his face and limbs. The owner, Jason Stafford, admitted to owning dogs that were dangerously out of control causing injury.
Stafford was sentenced to two years imprisonment and disqualified from owning dogs for 10 years. The court heard of a previous incident involving the dogs and a safety plan that had been disregarded. The judge emphasized the potential gravity of the situation, noting that the baby's injuries could have been far worse.
