Adrian Bolton, 56, assaulted Julian Sandy, 47, outside the Best of Welsh Business Awards on June 18, 2025. Mr. Sandy, owner of Woofterz Dog Grooming, had just won the pet services category, beating Mr. Bolton's wife's business. CCTV captured Bolton attacking Sandy in the hotel courtyard.
Mr. Sandy suffered a snapped joint and chipped bone in his thumb, rendering him unable to work for 12 weeks. This injury resulted in significant financial losses, estimated at £18,000 due to lost earnings and essential expenses. He also experienced bruising to his jaw and kidney area.
Appearing at Mold Magistrates Court on February 27, Bolton admitted to assault causing actual bodily harm. He received a sentence of 160 hours of unpaid work and was ordered to pay Mr. Sandy £2,000 in compensation. Mr. Sandy continues to suffer from severe thumb pain and mental trauma, potentially requiring future surgery and possibly forcing him to give up his profession.
