Authorities in Florida are actively searching for an individual who abandoned a dog in a crate for several days without providing food or water. The incident occurred on July 1 when a vehicle dropped off the crate in a church parking lot before driving away. Three days later, a church employee discovered the distressed animal inside the crate, noting it was covered in feces and clearly deprived of sustenance.
A veterinary examination confirmed the dog was extremely malnourished and is currently undergoing an extensive recovery process. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has released images of both the dog and the suspect vehicle in hopes of generating leads. They urge anyone with information to contact the sheriff's office or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers, emphasizing that abandonment is unacceptable and that viable rehoming options exist.
The sheriff's office is committed to finding the person responsible for this act of cruelty. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are appealing to the community for any information that could help identify the suspect and their vehicle.
