- The argument escalated over treatment explanation and disrespectful language.

A doctor in Kalyan East has been assaulted by a patient's son, weeks after a similar incident in Dombivli sparked statewide protests. Dr. Yogendra Jaiswal, an orthopaedic consultant at Bhanujyot Hospital, was reportedly attacked late Saturday night following a dispute over a patient's treatment. The patient's son allegedly became aggressive after questioning the doctor's prescribed course of action and using disrespectful language.
The confrontation escalated when the doctor asked for appropriate language, resulting in the son allegedly punching Dr. Jaiswal and assaulting him further. The incident was recorded on hospital CCTV, and other individuals intervened to separate them. Medical professionals in Maharashtra have been protesting against rising violence, demanding stricter laws to protect healthcare workers.
This latest attack occurred at the Kolsewadi police station, where an FIR was registered against Vinit Jaywant Deshmukh. The earlier assault in Dombivli on July 6 involved a Shiv Sena corporator and his associates attacking doctors and nurses after a dispute over patient care in a civic hospital. These events have intensified calls for enhanced safety measures within medical facilities.
