Shaman Trainee Jailed for DMT Drug Smuggling
4 Oct
Summary
- Six packages containing four kilograms of DMT each were intercepted.
- A home laboratory with forensic equipment was discovered by police.
- Scott Kinta received a five-year prison sentence for drug offenses.

Scott Kinta, who identified as a 'trainee shaman', has been sentenced to five years in prison for his role in importing and supplying the Class A psychedelic drug N-Dimethyltryptamine (DMT).
Border Force officers intercepted six packages at Coventry Airport last year, each containing around four kilograms of DMT, which had been sent from Peru. Authorities discovered Kinta had also attempted to send a package to Texas. A subsequent raid on Kinta's home in Nottinghamshire revealed a 'home laboratory' equipped with forensic tools, scales, and packaging materials, indicating extensive involvement.
Kinta admitted to being concerned in the supply and fraudulent importation of the Class A drug. He claimed he agreed to receive the packages in exchange for future training in shamanic healing practices from a 'medicine man' in Peru. Despite this unusual explanation, Kinta was convicted and received a substantial prison sentence for his actions.
