On November 10, 2025, a 27-year-old man was caught attempting to rape a 21-year-old differently abled woman in Bengaluru's LR Nagar, Koramangala. The victim's mother had left her daughter alone at home to attend her son's wedding, but when she returned around 11 AM, she found the door locked from the inside.
Suspecting something was amiss, the mother forced the door open and was horrified to find her daughter sitting naked in the corner. She then noticed the suspect, Vignesh, hiding behind the door in his underwear. When the mother confronted him, Vignesh fled the scene, but was caught and assaulted by the neighbors.
According to the police, Vignesh, who lives in the same area, was under the influence of ganja and had entered the house knowing the victim was alone. He had locked the door from the inside and disrobed the woman before the mother's return prevented a full-fledged assault.
The victim, who is physically challenged and speech-impaired, is currently receiving medical and psychological care. Both she and the accused have been sent for medical tests, and the police are awaiting the results. The suspect, who has a criminal history, has been remanded in judicial custody.
