Prisoners Attack Jail Warden in Dharwad

A jail warden at Dharwad Central Prison was injured on Saturday after being allegedly assaulted by a group of inmates. The incident reportedly involved Mohammad Khasif and Rehan Sharief, individuals accused in the murder case of Harsha, a Bajrang Dal activist from Shivamogga.
Sources indicate that the altercation arose when the prisoners quarreled with warden Kiran Ghorpade over their request to be released from their cells. Warden Ghorpade has since been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
A case has been formally registered against the involved prisoners at the Dharwad Suburban police station. In response to the incident, jail authorities have implemented a restriction on family visits for the accused, leading to family members traveling from Shivamogga being turned away.
