15 Feb
Summary
- Detective alleges fiancée had affair with colleague on police premises.
- He claims investigation into misconduct was corrupt due to investigator's affair.
- The detective is suing for over £340,000 in damages and lost earnings.

A detective constable with North Wales Police has initiated legal action against the force, seeking over £340,000 in damages. He alleges that his fiancée, also a detective constable, engaged in an affair with a colleague on police premises. This misconduct was reported in the summer of 2017, with the affair occurring at St Asaph police station while the complainant was stationed elsewhere.
When a formal complaint for gross misconduct was lodged, the investigation was allegedly mishandled. The detective claims the senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Steve Williams, was involved in a sexual relationship with his fiancée concurrently. Mr. Williams concluded no further action was necessary against her.
Mr. Fearon asserts that this 'corrupt' investigation, which he believes was influenced by rank, led to his work fob being deactivated. He resigned after his request for an external investigation was denied. Mr. Williams and the fiancée married in 2022. The colleague involved was dismissed in 2019 for separate allegations.
The detective is suing for £200,000 for personal injury and £144,000 for loss of earnings, stating the alleged corruption severely impacted his physical and mental health. His solicitor highlighted the force's failure to conduct an impartial investigation, resulting in significant psychiatric injury for his client. Mr. Williams denies any relationship during the investigation, calling the claims malicious.
