Trafficker Dentist Gets Bail to Care for Child

Investigation revealed that the grandson was allegedly sold by his father, Ganesh Purvaiyya, to middlemen. The trail led to Uttarpara, West Bengal, where Dr. Banerji was found with the child. Her defense argued she believed the child to be an orphan and intended to provide him with a stable home and education, suggesting she may have been misled.
The court observed that while the child had old marks, they were not fresh injuries and there was no evidence of harm by the doctor. The child remains in the care of the Aasha Sadan Rescue Home as the case proceeds.
