Summary
- Woman was killed after shooters waited nearly three hours.
- The victim was a witness in her husband's murder case.
- The used motorcycle had a tampered chassis and stolen plates.

In a shocking incident in northwest Delhi's Shalimar Bagh, a 44-year-old woman was fatally shot on Sunday morning. Police revealed that the assailants had surveilled the area for approximately three hours before carrying out the attack, suggesting a planned execution. The motorcycle used in the crime was later discovered in Rohini, bearing a stolen license plate and a tampered chassis number.
Rachna Yadav, the victim, was reportedly a witness in the murder case of her husband, Bijender Yadav, who himself was gunned down nearly three years prior. Family members stated that Rachna had been attacked while stopping at a roadside shack to wash her hands and feet, shortly after attending a neighbour's funeral. This targeted killing follows a pattern, as her husband Bijender, a property dealer with a criminal history, was also shot at close range in May 2023.
Authorities have initiated a significant manhunt, forming numerous teams to track down the perpetrators and are conducting raids in outer Delhi and Haryana. The family alleges a connection to Bharat Yadav, the main accused in Bijender's murder, who remains absconding. This incident underscores a disturbing cycle of violence, with Rachna having reported threats and intimidation related to her husband's case previously.
