A violent monetary dispute culminated in a fatal hammer attack in a rented room in Kaka Mohalla, Chhawla, southwest Delhi, early Wednesday. A 70-year-old tenant, identified as Durga Singh from Nepal, allegedly killed his co-tenant, 44-year-old Sanjay Sain Dhariwal, by repeatedly striking him with a hammer.
The altercation reportedly began after midnight on Tuesday over financial disagreements. Police stated that Dhariwal, an unmarried mason estranged from his family, initially attacked Singh with a knife. Singh, who claimed to be an ex-serviceman, then retaliated with a hammer, resulting in Dhariwal's death.
Following the incident, Singh alerted the property owner, who subsequently informed the police. Responding officers found Dhariwal deceased and Singh injured. Singh was taken to RTR Hospital and later referred to Safdarjung Hospital for treatment of significant blood loss. An FIR has been registered against Singh for murder.
