On October 29, 2025, the Delhi Police recognized the bravery and quick thinking of three local residents who recently stepped up to stop crimes in their city. Shweta Sharma, a 44-year-old from Paschim Vihar East, was returning home with her mother last January when a man on a motorcycle tried to snatch her gold chain. Instead of freezing, Sharma ducked and pushed the snatcher off the bike, with the help of bystanders.
Deepak Dua, a 30-year-old car dealer from Nirankari Colony, encountered a disturbing situation in April when he noticed a man with a crying, disheveled young girl. Sensing something was wrong, Dua confronted the man, who turned out to be a stranger attempting to abduct the child. Dua immediately alerted the police.
Avantika Meattle, a 45-year-old photographer from Prithviraj Road, also demonstrated compassion when she rushed an injured man to the hospital in her own car after witnessing him being hit by a vehicle in June. Bystanders had hesitated to help, fearing legal entanglement.
The Delhi Police praised the courage and quick thinking of these citizens, stating that their actions go a long way in making the streets of Delhi safer.
