27 Oct
Summary
- 45-year-old man arrested for killing wife
- Claimed wife died by suicide, but police found inconsistencies
- Confessed to smothering and strangling wife after heated argument

On the early morning of October 26, 2025, a 45-year-old man named Dinesh Sharma, a priest at a Shiv mandir in Kanhaiya Nagar, Delhi, made a call to the police claiming his wife had hanged herself. When the police arrived at the flat in Tri Nagar, they found the body of Sushma, Sharma's 40-year-old wife, on the floor with no visible external injuries.
Sharma initially insisted that his wife had died by suicide, but the police soon grew suspicious as his statement contained inconsistencies. After sustained interrogation, Sharma broke down and confessed to killing Sushma. He revealed that the couple had a heated argument late on Saturday, following which he smothered Sushma with a pillow and then strangled her with a gamchha (a type of towel).
The couple's 11-year-old daughter was asleep in the same room at the time of the incident. Sharma's attempt to cover up the murder by staging it as a suicide has now landed him in police custody, where he faces charges for the brutal killing of his wife.
