Delhi Police crime branch has successfully busted a significant pirated books racket, leading to the arrest of a 67-year-old individual. The accused is alleged to have been printing and distributing unauthorized copies of books from Penguin Random House India Pvt. Ltd.
Acting on a complaint filed on March 14, law enforcement conducted raids in Rohini's Sector-16, initially recovering 8,593 pirated books. A subsequent search at a nearby location yielded an additional 11,544 copies, bringing the total seizure to over 20,000 books.
During interrogation, the suspect, Jwala Prasad Soni, eventually revealed a printing unit in the Anand Parbat industrial area. Police seized two printing machines, along with book negatives and plates used for reproduction. These findings solidify the accused's direct role in the illegal printing, storage, and distribution network.
Authorities noted that Soni, a Rohini resident, was previously involved in a piracy case from 2011. Further investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other potential members of this organized racket.
