Delhi Live-in Murder: Truth Behind Viral Claim

A recent incident in Delhi, initially clouded by misinformation, has been clarified by fact-checkers. A Hindu man, Virendra Singh, allegedly murdered his live-in partner, Radha, after a heated argument concerning alcohol consumption. Singh reportedly left her body in his car before being apprehended by police. Social media widely circulated false claims, identifying the accused as 'Abdul' and alleging a communal motive behind the killing of a Hindu woman.

Investigations by India Today Fact Check and other news outlets revealed the truth behind the viral narrative. The accused is Virendra Singh, who was married and had children, and the victim was Radha. The dispute escalated over Singh's drinking, leading him to strangle Radha. He then placed her body in his car, intending to dispose of it later. Police discovered the body on November 26 in Najafgarh after a neighbour's complaint.

Authorities have definitively stated that there is no communal aspect to this case. Both Virendra Singh and Radha were Hindu. The narrative spread online, falsely attributing the crime to a Muslim perpetrator, has been debunked. The police also found Rs 21 lakh in cash at the residence shared by the couple.
