Jewel-Loving Engineer Slain by Acquaintance in Shocking Rohini Killing

On the night of Halloween 2025, a Delhi Jal Board engineer named Suresh Rathi was murdered in his Rohini apartment. The 59-year-old Rathi was known for his love of gold, often wearing heavy chains, bracelets, and rings that displayed his wealth.

Rathi had recently made a new acquaintance, a man named Bunty, at a local paan shop. Bunty had been invited to Rathi's home a few times, and this established a false sense of trust. Bunty then assessed the apartment and confirmed the high value of Rathi's jewelry, seeing an opportunity to turn his life around.

On the night of the murder, Bunty arrived at Rathi's flat with a knife, ambushing him in the bathroom and stabbing him in the neck. Bunty quickly stripped the gold jewelry off Rathi's body and fled the scene.

The discovery of Rathi's body launched a police investigation, led by Special Commissioner Ravindra Singh Yadav. Crucial CCTV footage showed Rathi entering his home and a shadowy figure in a black hoodie leaving. Bunty's call records and internet activity eventually led police to his girlfriend's house, where he was hiding. The police recovered the stolen jewelry and cash, and Bunty was taken into custody.

Rathi's daughter, an officer with the National Security Guards, was left distraught by the tragic incident. The case had become a talking point in the Rohini neighborhood, highlighting the dangers of flaunting wealth and the greed that can lead to deadly consequences.
