Police in New Delhi are investigating the brutal double murder of an elderly couple, Virender Kumar Bansal, 75, and Parvesh Bansal, 65, in Shahdara. A key detail emerging from the inquiry is that the couple's electronic lock was opened using a key, which the perpetrator allegedly used to exit and relock the premises. Investigators have begun questioning local key makers as part of their efforts to identify the suspect, who was captured on CCTV footage near the residence around 6 pm and again at 8:20 pm on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026.
The initial assessment of the crime scene suggested that the interior of the house was largely undisturbed, leading police to question the motive. While the family reported the elderly woman's jewelry missing, investigators are considering the possibility that the theft was staged to mislead the investigation. They are pursuing multiple angles, including contract killing and potential monetary disputes stemming from Mr. Bansal's known practice of lending money at interest.
