The incident occurred when a joint team from Delhi Police and local law enforcement cornered Avinash, also known as Janu, a criminal with a Rs 50,000 bounty on his head.
Avinash, a resident of Malviya Nagar in Delhi, had been a fugitive since January 22. He was wanted for allegedly attacking a beat constable in Safdarjung Enclave and stealing his service pistol. Delhi Police records indicate a long criminal history for Avinash, beginning in 2012.
