In a high-stakes encounter on Friday, an IPS officer and a police inspector in Firozabad's Tundla were shot but survived due to their bulletproof vests. The incident occurred when a joint team from Delhi Police and local law enforcement cornered Avinash, also known as Janu, a criminal with a Rs 50,000 bounty on his head.
Avinash, a resident of Malviya Nagar in Delhi, had been a fugitive since January 22. He was wanted for allegedly attacking a beat constable in Safdarjung Enclave and stealing his service pistol. Delhi Police records indicate a long criminal history for Avinash, beginning in 2012.
The accused, who is currently under heavy police guard and receiving medical treatment, reportedly began his criminal activities to fund his girlfriend's lifestyle. Investigators revealed his first robbery occurred outside a police station. The investigation into his activities is ongoing.
