Dehradun Teen Raped After Drugged Drink

In Dehradun, police apprehended a 19-year-old man and two 15-year-old boys for the alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl. The incident reportedly occurred on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday after the victim was offered a sedative-laced cold drink. The girl had been sent out to deliver goods on Thursday evening when a juvenile acquaintance called her to meet. At the meeting point, she encountered the other two accused, who allegedly took her to a nearby forest. There, after consuming liquor, they offered her a drugged cold drink, causing her to lose consciousness. The three then allegedly took turns sexually assaulting her throughout the night. She was sent home in an e-rickshaw the following morning. Upon returning home, she collapsed. After regaining consciousness, she recounted the ordeal to her mother, who promptly filed a complaint on Friday evening. An FIR was registered under stringent sections of the Pocso Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A police team formed on Friday night led to the arrest of the accused. The adult was presented before the local court, while the juveniles were produced before the juvenile justice board, with both sent to judicial custody and a correctional facility, respectively.
