Surveillance video revealed a confrontation where a suspect, identified as Joredyn Hubbard, 19, approached Santiago and fired two shots. The motive for the shooting is believed to have been an argument over a Twisted Tea, with social media posts corroborating this detail. Hubbard was apprehended on December 26 after being identified through vehicle and cell tower data.
Hubbard admitted to being present at the street takeover and hearing gunshots. He initially claimed self-defense, stating he believed Santiago had a gun. However, he was unable to demonstrate this fear when questioned by detectives. Hubbard is currently held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center and faces an open murder charge, with his next court appearance scheduled for January 13, 2026.
