According to the ATS, the suspects had amassed castor beans, chemicals, and equipment to extract and weaponize ricin, one of the world's most lethal toxins. The group had also conducted reconnaissance at religious institutions and offices of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Ahmedabad, Delhi, and Lucknow, studying crowd movements and security patterns.
Investigators believe the plot was directed by a Pakistan-based handler affiliated with the Islamic State-Khorasan Province (ISKP). The accused were reportedly awaiting final approval before proceeding with tests and potential attacks across India. Authorities have described the case as a "blueprint for mass destruction without detection," highlighting the evolving nature of modern terrorism.
The ATS has registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Arms Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as they continue to trace funding networks and overseas links. Cross-agency cooperation is underway to assess whether similar bio-terror modules exist elsewhere in the country.
