27 Feb
Summary
- A sanitation worker was filmed deliberately overturning trash and recycling bins.
- The homeowner has experienced months of garbage piling up in the alley.
- The DPW acknowledged the incident and launched an investigation into the worker's conduct.

A sanitation worker for the Washington, D.C. Department of Public Works (DPW) was recently filmed on camera deliberately toppling a homeowner's garbage and recycling bins. The homeowner, Llewellyn Jones, posted the video on X, expressing frustration over what he believed was months of sabotage. The footage shows the worker carelessly discarding the bins, spilling their contents and exacerbating the mess in the alley.
This incident has intensified scrutiny on the DPW's service quality. Councilman Charles Allen, representing Ward 6, acknowledged the worker's unacceptable behavior, stating it does not reflect the professionalism expected from DPW staff. Allen has requested the DPW to investigate the matter thoroughly.
The DPW has acknowledged the misconduct and confirmed an investigation is underway, describing the worker's actions as uncharacteristic. While the worker did not dump the bins on the day following the video's circulation, the homeowner noted that the alley still suffers from accumulated garbage from previous months, requesting a cleanup.
