A 22-year-old man, Justin McCafferty, tragically died after falling from a third-floor window at the Fort Monmouth Day Program. He was discovered unresponsive on the ground by a postal worker on April 15 at 10:31 a.m.
The postal worker, performing his mail route, heard a bang and found McCafferty behind his truck. He attempted to rouse the unresponsive man, eventually performing chest compressions under the guidance of a 911 dispatcher until police arrived.
Authorities administered Narcan upon arrival, though no indication of drug involvement has been given. McCafferty was transported to Monmouth Medical Center and pronounced deceased. The program, responsible for maintaining constant supervision, is now facing a $35 million lawsuit from McCafferty's family alleging neglect led to his death.
