Custody Death: Autopsy Report Sparks Major Doubts
10 Mar
Summary
- Autopsy report contradicts treating doctor's findings on cause of death.
- Fat embolism cited by hospital doctor, but absent in autopsy.
- Brain hemorrhages noted in autopsy, despite 'fat' absence.

Serious concerns have been raised by forensic experts and medical professionals regarding the post-mortem report of R. Akash Delison, a 26-year-old man who reportedly died in police custody in Sivaganga district. A significant discrepancy exists between the initial Medico-Legal Case (MLC) and the final autopsy findings.
The treating doctor at Government Rajaji Hospital initially identified fat embolism as the cause of death. However, the subsequent autopsy report stated that the heart chambers contained only clotted blood and made no mention of fat globules, contradicting the earlier assessment.
Furthermore, despite the absence of the term 'fat' in the autopsy's findings, the report detailed patchy subarachnoid hemorrhages and multiple petechial hemorrhages within the brain's white matter. These findings add to the doubts surrounding the official cause of death.
