The situation escalated in 2019 when the stalker called Kaya's high school, pretending to be her father and making chilling threats.
After years of exhaustive efforts by local and federal investigators, a suspect was finally apprehended in 2022. The 58-year-old Ohio man, James David Rogers, pleaded guilty to charges including mailing threatening communications and stalking. He was sentenced to 40 months in prison and released in 2024.
