The historic Jewel House at the Tower of London is currently closed to the public following an incident on Saturday morning where four individuals were arrested. These arrests were made on suspicion of criminal damage after protesters allegedly threw food onto the display case containing the State Crown.
Metropolitan Police were called to the scene shortly before 10 am. Officers, working with City of London Police and security staff, detained four people. Two protesters reportedly left the scene after the alleged act, while the remaining four were taken into custody for further questioning.
The Tower of London, a significant historical landmark dating back to the 1070s, attracts millions of visitors annually. The closure affects only the Jewel House, which houses the precious Coronation Regalia, including the Imperial State Crown.
