Agra Man Arrested for Forging Medical Docs for Donations
26 Sep
Summary
- Man arrested for allegedly faking sister's illness to crowdfund.
- Over ₹1.5 lakh reportedly raised through online donations.
- Hospital confirmed forged medical documents were used.
A crowdfunding appeal on X, initially met with sympathy, has led to the arrest of Ajayveer Singh, also known as Jay Singh Rathore. Agra Police apprehended him on allegations of using forged medical documents to collect approximately ₹1.5 lakh by falsely claiming his sister suffered from serious eye conditions.
The Bah Police Station registered a case after a complaint detailed how Singh allegedly created fake prescriptions and medical records. These were purportedly used to gain public sympathy and financial aid through online platforms, including Shroff Eye Centre's letterhead, which the hospital later disavowed.
Singh appeared in online discussions, explaining his actions were due to his father's illness and family financial difficulties, stating his sister's name was used to reach more donors. He claimed to have refunded some contributors, though the full extent of fund handling is under police investigation.
