A dispute over a borrowed speaker reportedly escalated into a violent assault in Coweta County last month. The incident occurred on June 26 at a property on East Freeman Street.
Investigators responded to a 911 call reporting an assault with injuries. Upon arrival, deputies found Dexter Mack confronting the victim. According to the victim, Mack became enraged over a speaker he had loaned to a friend staying in a camper on the property.
Mack allegedly threw a chair and an ashtray, damaging the camper before shattering a window with a metal pipe. He then reportedly struck the victim six to eight times with the pipe, from his legs to his back.
The victim managed to escape and call for help, telling deputies he felt like he was going to die. Authorities recovered metal pipes from the scene and documented abrasions on the victim's back and shoulder blade.
Mack was taken to the Coweta County Jail and charged with aggravated assault and battery. Investigators noted no prior history of disputes between the two men.
