Coventry Woman Arrested After Hatchet Incident

A domestic disturbance in Coventry Township led to the arrest of Mary A. Gross, 59, on January 9th. Authorities responded to a report of a hatchet attack at a Peach Drive residence.
The victim informed the Summit County Sheriff's Office that Gross allegedly struck him and then threw a hatchet, causing minor injuries. Deputies arriving at the scene found the victim outside, while Gross barricaded herself within the home.
After a standoff, Gross surrendered to the SWAT Team and negotiators around 6:55 p.m. She was taken into custody and transported to the Summit County Jail, facing charges of felonious assault and domestic violence. Her bond hearing is set for January 13th.
