Nonprofit Leaders Arrested in Embezzlement Probe

Courtney Jordan, founder of the Courtney Jordan Foundation, and its CFO Nick Gallardo were recently arrested in Person County. These arrests stem from allegations that the Durham-based nonprofit failed to pay numerous employees for their work. Investigators reportedly recovered various items, including cell phones, laptops, cash, and identification belonging to other individuals.
The search also led to the discovery of suspected illegal narcotics. Jordan faces charges including fleeing to elude arrest and trespassing in Person County. Gallardo is charged with conspiracy, trespassing, and possession of a controlled substance.
Both individuals are also facing charges in Durham, including obtaining property by false pretenses and conspiracy, directly linked to their involvement with the Courtney Jordan Foundation. The Person County Sheriff's Office indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
Jordan and Gallardo are scheduled to appear in court later this month. Attempts by ABC11 to contact them for comment have been unsuccessful. The investigation into the foundation's financial dealings and alleged non-payment of employees remains active.
