Court Demands Dog Welfare Report Amid Owner Dispute
27 Feb
Summary
- Court orders inspection of new dog facility by March 6.
- Owner disputes claims of cruelty, seeks dogs' return.
- Five seized dogs died from parvo virus infection.

The Telangana High Court is closely monitoring the welfare of 37 dogs seized from a residential flat following neighbor complaints. Authorities handed the dogs to an NGO, People for Animals (PFA), for their well-being. The original owner contested this, arguing her dogs were treated like family and could not survive in a stray animal shelter. She alleged lack of proper care led to some dogs' deaths.
The PFA's counsel reported that five dogs succumbed to parvo virus infection, stating the animals were unvaccinated and exposed to the virus. Currently, the remaining 27 dogs and puppies are stable and receiving vaccinations. The court has directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to inspect the owner's newly identified accommodation and report on its suitability, as well as the dogs' physical and psychological condition, by the next hearing on March 6.
