- Victim discovered assaults during chemotherapy treatment.

Adelle Overton's 13-year relationship with Steven Uden shattered when he confessed to raping her while she slept. Meeting in 2009, the couple shared interests in zombie films and survival horror experiences, with Uden becoming Overton's carer after she became disabled.
Overton began to suspect something was wrong in 2020 while undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, recalling waking up during an encounter with Uden. Her suspicions grew as she experienced difficulty sleeping and nightmares. Uden confessed in 2025 during his own cancer treatment.
Following advice from her therapy group, Overton reported Uden to the police. He was arrested and immediately confessed to raping Overton on two occasions, leading to a prison sentence of six years and eight months.
Overton believes Uden may have also drugged her with her medication to ensure she remained asleep during the assaults. Her story aims to help other vulnerable individuals who may be in similar exploitative situations.
