Couple jailed for baby's broken bones

Georgia Newbold, 29, and Kristjan Brawley, 34, have been sentenced to prison for child cruelty after failing to seek medical care for their infant, who endured four leg fractures over a six-week period. The court determined that the parents deliberately disregarded the baby's welfare, hiding its suffering and avoiding medical professionals, including immunisation appointments.

Evidence presented at Hull Crown Court revealed fractures to the baby's left femur, right tibia, and two separate fractures to the left shinbone. These injuries, each requiring significant force, caused immense pain and distress, which would have been obvious to the parents. Brawley's claims about how the injuries occurred were contradicted by medical evidence.

Newbold was jailed for two and a half years, and Brawley received a sentence of two years and 10 months. The judge noted that their expressions of remorse were difficult to reconcile with their trial claims, emphasizing that the neglect was deliberate and that something was clearly wrong with the baby.
