27 Feb
Summary
- Couple Hannelore and Barry Dalton found dead in their home.
- Inquest determined the couple died of natural causes.
- They were devoted to each other and wanted to be alone.

An inquest has revealed that Hannelore and Barry Dalton, aged 87, were found deceased in their Greysouthen home weeks after their deaths. Police discovered the couple on May 24, 2025, after a neighbor raised concerns. The coroner estimated their passing occurred several weeks prior, with Hannelore last known alive on March 17, 2025, and Barry seen in early April.
Coroner Kirsty Gomersal concluded on the balance of probability that the couple died of natural causes, though the exact cause could not be determined due to their bodies' condition. Barry Dalton had dementia and severe coronary artery disease, while Hannelore was reportedly weakening. No foul play was suspected.
The couple, who had been married for decades after meeting in Germany, were described as "utterly and totally devoted to each other." Their niece stated they did not socialize and "wanted to be together until the end," a choice their family respected.
