In Bahraich, a tragic discovery was made late on Thursday night, October 1, 2026, when hotel staff found a 46-year-old woman and her 27-year-old male companion hanging in a hotel room. The couple had checked into Room 201 of Avadh Kailash Hotel on September 22, 2026, posing as a married couple.
Hotel employees raised an alarm after the pair did not respond to repeated calls for service following breakfast. Upon breaking down the door, authorities discovered the distressing scene. The woman was from Gautam Budh Nagar, and the man, a contractual electrician/lineman in Noida, hailed from Shravasti.
Investigators found no suicide note at the scene. However, an Instagram reel from the man's account, posted the day before their deaths, reportedly showed them together in the hotel room. The man's family stated they were unaware of his association with the woman, noting he had recently married in July 2026.
Police are currently reviewing hotel records, CCTV footage, and other evidence to determine the cause of death. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, with further actions to be taken based on the investigation's findings.
