Couple Terrorized by Imposter Phoenix Officers in Brutal Stop

A disturbing traffic stop near 11th Avenue and Southern Avenue in Phoenix involved a couple being violently assaulted and threatened by individuals posing as police officers. The incident, which occurred on the evening of August 5, saw the couple forcibly removed from their vehicle, with the male driver being beaten and repeatedly tased. The female passenger was also tased and threatened with violence.

The assailants, who were not in uniform and drove a vehicle resembling a Phoenix police car, also threatened to shoot the male driver. The couple were later released, but not before one of the impersonators stated, "We know where you live now." The woman, fearing for her safety, tracked her phone to prevent her address from being discovered.

Tempe police responded to a call about the couple's disabled vehicle later and, upon hearing the woman's account, compiled a report and referred the case to Phoenix police. The report suggests the couple were victims of multiple crimes, including armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and impersonating a police officer.

Phoenix police confirmed that two officers were recently placed on administrative leave for unrelated reasons involving use of force and body camera activation. The department is conducting both a criminal and administrative investigation into the alleged incident, emphasizing their commitment to transparency and accountability.
