A heated dispute over child discipline in Florida led to the arrest of a married couple. The incident began when a mother disciplined her 4-year-old son, who had reportedly spit in her face. As she reprimanded him, Terry Williams, 66, intervened, claiming to be from the Florida Department of Children and Families. He reportedly left after the mother asked him to. However, his wife, Mary Williams, 63, then approached the mother aggressively.
According to the arrest report, Mary Williams allegedly blocked the mother from leaving with her son and initiated a physical altercation when the mother attempted to move her. The report states Mary scratched and choked the mother, while Terry Williams later joined in, grabbing the mother's hair and shirt. Their actions reportedly resulted in the mother's shirt being torn off, leaving her in her bra.
Police confirmed the mother sustained scratch marks on her throat and a cut on her lip. A witness corroborated the assault, stating the couple attacked the mother from both sides. Mary Williams was arrested on charges of simple battery and burglary, and her bond was set at $5,000. Terry Williams was arrested on a battery charge with a $2,500 bond. As of May 7, Mary Williams remained in custody.
