Convicted Murderer Schabusiness Pleads No Contest to Attacking Prison Employee

On October 8, 2025, Taylor Schabusiness, a convicted murderer, appeared in a Wisconsin courtroom while restrained in handcuffs, shackles, and a wheelchair. This is the second time Schabusiness has been subdued in this manner, as a precaution taken after she physically attacked her lawyers in court on two separate occasions.

Schabusiness entered a no contest plea to a misdemeanor charge following an incident in June 2024 where she allegedly assaulted a prison employee at the Taycheedah Correctional Facility, where she is serving a life sentence. The incident occurred while Schabusiness was receiving treatment at the prison infirmary, where she allegedly lunged and swung a metal tray at a staff member while having a staple removed from her arm.

Schabusiness was previously sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 2023 after being convicted of murdering, raping, and mutilating 25-year-old Shad Thyrion during a drug-fueled sexual encounter. Despite her confession, Schabusiness had initially entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, which was ultimately rejected by the jury.

The latest charge against Schabusiness is not expected to have a significant impact, as she is already serving a life sentence. However, her continued disruptive and violent behavior in court and in prison highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the criminal justice system in managing such cases.
