A music concert held on April 11 at an exhibition center in Goregaon East resulted in the tragic deaths of two young MBA students from a suspected drug overdose. The event, attended by 3,700 visitors, became the focus of a police investigation into the supply of Ecstasy, also known as MDMA.
Authorities have made six arrests in connection with the incident, including students, an event organizer, and venue staff. Investigators are actively pursuing leads to dismantle the drug supply chain, with one individual currently detained for questioning as a potential link. Further arrests are not being ruled out as the police work to uncover the source of the illegal substances.
The two deceased students, aged 28 and 24, were among a group of 25 MBA students attending the concert. Investigations revealed that at least four to five students may have consumed Ecstasy pills. One student is currently hospitalized in intensive care after consuming a pill at the event. Forensic analysis of blood samples and other tissues from the deceased is underway to confirm the cause of death.
As of April 16, 2026, the investigation is ongoing, with police teams dedicated to tracing the drug supply. Statements from 12 individuals have been recorded, and the focus remains on apprehending those responsible for supplying the drugs that led to the fatalities. The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their families for final rites.
