A businesswoman, Zulma Guzman Castro, accused of a double schoolgirl murder in Colombia has been apprehended in London after being rescued from the River Thames. She is alleged to have used poisoned chocolate-covered raspberries as an act of vengeance following a secret affair with the father of one of the victims.
Castro, who denies the killings, was discovered in the Thames near Battersea Bridge on December 16, 2025, and was hospitalized. Colombian law enforcement has requested UK police assistance for her detention, with an arrest warrant issued by Westminster Magistrates' Court. Interpol had previously issued a Red Notice for her, noting her travel to Brazil, Spain, and the UK.
Ines de Bedout, 14, and her friend Emilia Forero, 13, tragically died in April 2025 after consuming the doctored fruit. Prosecutors claim Castro used a courier firm to deliver the deadly treat. Another teenager and a 21-year-old survived the incident but suffered health issues.
