Coimbatore Trio Detained Under Goondas Act for Gang-Rape

Three men accused of the November 2 gang-rape of a college student in Coimbatore have been detained under the Goondas Act. The trio, T. Karuppusamy, T. Kaleeswaran, and M. Guna, allegedly assaulted the victim's boyfriend before committing the assault on the Govt Polytechnic College premises.
Following their arrest, the accused were produced before a judicial magistrate and remanded to judicial custody. They are currently housed in the Coimbatore Central Prison. The Goondas Act detention was recommended by the investigating officer and approved by the city police commissioner.
Authorities are also investigating the suspects' potential involvement in the murder of 55-year-old herder M. Devaraj. Police plan to seek custody of the accused for further questioning regarding this case.
