The district mahila court recently concluded extensive questioning of the accused and heard arguments from the special public prosecutor. The accused, identified as T Karuppusamy, T Kaleeswaran, and M Guna, face serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including gang rape, assault with intent to outrage modesty, and criminal conspiracy.
The legal proceedings have been moving swiftly. Following the initial chargesheet filed on December 2, 2025, an additional one was submitted on January 8, 2026. Witness examination commenced on February 2, 2026, and was completed within a remarkable 20-day period. A total of 72 witnesses, including victims, family, friends, police, and forensic experts, provided testimony. The court also reviewed 111 government exhibits, encompassing CCTV footage and DNA evidence.
The incident occurred on the night of November 2-3, 2025, near the city airport. The college girl was reportedly gang-raped by the trio after they assaulted her boyfriend while the couple was in a stationary car. She was subsequently taken to a deserted area.
