Coimbatore Couple Attacked, Woman Abducted and Gang-Raped

In a horrific incident, a 20-year-old postgraduate student was abducted and gang-raped by three men in Coimbatore on the night of November 3, 2025. The woman was with her boyfriend, parked in a car at Brindhavan Nagar behind the Coimbatore airport, when the attack occurred around 10:30 PM.

The three assailants, who were riding a moped, broke the car's windshield and attacked the boyfriend with weapons. They then threatened the woman and took her to a deserted spot about a kilometer away, where they repeatedly raped her. The injured boyfriend called the police, who launched a search and traced the woman around 4 AM. By then, the attackers had fled, leaving behind their stolen moped.

The woman, who hails from Madurai and was studying in Coimbatore, has been admitted to a private hospital in the city. Her boyfriend's condition is reported to be stable. Later that night, police shot at and arrested the three suspects - Sathish, Guna, and Karthik - all from Madurai district. They were daily wage laborers staying in a rental room in Coimbatore.

The AIADMK women's wing has called for a protest against the rape and incidents of violence against women. BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan also visited the crime scene on Monday evening. The police commissioner stated that seven special teams have been formed to investigate the case, but the victims were unable to identify the attackers.
