NY Woman Caught With 8kg Cocaine at Boston Airport

Federal prosecutors announced that a 24-year-old woman from New York was arrested at Boston Logan International Airport on February 4th for attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of cocaine. Stacey Medina Guzman, from Corona, New York, arrived on a JetBlue flight from Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
During inspection, a K-9 unit alerted authorities to narcotics within her duty-free bag. A subsequent search revealed that two boxes of Chivas Regal, resealed with glue, actually contained 12 bricks of cocaine weighing approximately eight kilograms.
Medina Guzman has been indicted on multiple charges, including importation and possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine. These charges carry a potential maximum sentence of life imprisonment and a $10 million fine. The Department of Homeland Security and Massachusetts State Police assisted in the investigation.
