Mail Carrier Accused of Stealing Cash from Greeting Cards

Cobb County police and U.S. Postal Service investigators are looking into allegations that a postal employee stole mail. Isis Hinson, 26, a USPS employee at the Marietta East Cobb Station, is accused of stealing greeting cards between October 2 and December 11. Authorities allege she went through the cards specifically searching for cash and gift cards.
The investigation began in late October after a letter carrier reported finding several opened greeting cards. These cards were reportedly taken from a cluster box located in Acworth, an area where Hinson lived. Following this report, investigators initiated a probe into the alleged mail thefts.
On Wednesday, investigators met with Hinson, recovered additional stolen mail, and accepted her resignation from the USPS. Warrants have been issued for her arrest on charges of theft by taking and possession of stolen mail. She is not currently in custody. Anyone suspecting they were a victim should contact the USPS Office of Inspector General.
